Self-Esteem and Self-Worth
Self-esteem and self-worth influence how individuals view themselves, navigate relationships, respond to challenges, and make decisions in daily life. When self-esteem is low, people may struggle with self-doubt, perfectionism, people-pleasing, negative self-talk, fear of failure, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling “not good enough” despite external accomplishments. Low self-worth can develop from many experiences, including childhood dynamics, trauma, unhealthy relationships, bullying, criticism, chronic stress, or repeated experiences of rejection or disappointment. Over time, these patterns can contribute to anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, emotional exhaustion, and difficulty feeling confident or secure in oneself.
At Assessing Alternatives Counseling, we help individuals develop a healthier and more compassionate relationship with themselves. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore the experiences and beliefs that may be impacting self-esteem while learning practical strategies to build confidence, emotional resilience, self-acceptance, and healthier boundaries. Our therapists utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches tailored to each individual’s needs, helping clients identify strengths, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and move toward a greater sense of empowerment, authenticity, and emotional well-being.
